The age band for the UPSC Civil Services Exams is as below

AGE- Minimum 21 years for all candidates
Maximum 30 years for the General candidates
Candidates belonging to OBC gets 3 years and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxations

Educational Qualifications - Graduation pass in any Stream

To become an IAS and IPS you have to write the entrance test which is held in Three stages:
>> Prelims
>> Mains
>> Interview

If you clear all the three stages and based on your rank, you will be alloted the departments

The minimum and maximum age limit for IAS and IPS exam is :

1.For General category 21-30 yrs

2.For OBC category 21-33 yrs

3.For SC/ST category 21-35 yrs....

And about the duration of course I say that the exam is held in two phases:

1.Prelims in May

2.Mains in November

And the ones who clear Prelims are eligible for Mains and after it the Interview is held and then final training..

Civil Service Exam is conducted by UPSC in every year .

Civil Service exam recruit the candidate of -

1.Indian Administrative Service (IAS)
2.Indian Foreign Service (IFS)
3.Indian Police Service (IPS)
4.Indian Revenue Service (IRS) among others.

You want to apply for IAS and IPS exam but there are no special exams for IAS and IPS so you must qualify in Civil Service exams to become a IAS and IPS Officer .

So the Eligibility criteria for Civil service exam is given below-

Educational Qualification :-

Graduation Degree in any stream from a recognized university , the final year students also eligible for applying preliminary examination

Age criteria :-

General category student candidate 21-30 years.
OBC relaxation in upper age 3 years.
SC/ST relaxation in upper age 5 years.

Attempt Limit:-

General Candidate can maximum 4 Times
OBC Candidate can Maximum 7 Times
SC/ST there is no attempt Limit
