I.A.S stands for Indian Administrative Service and the examination for it is conducted by the UPSC. There is no special examination for it. The examination for all the IAS/IPS/IFS etc are conducted as Civil Service examination.

The eligibility criteria for the examination is :-
* Candidates must have completed there graduation.
* Candidates age must be between 21-30 years for general category and upto 31 years for OBC and 35 years for SC/ST.
* Graduation in any discipline are eligible.

The examination is conducted in three stages as :-
* Preliminary.
*Mains.
*Interview.

It is mandatory to qualify in each of the stage to become eligible for the final recruitment. There is no restrictions on selection of optional paper as you can choose any paper other than your graduation discipline also.

The examination is among the toughest so it requires hard work , determination and dedication for it. But as nothing is impossible so you will definitely get success. Keep proper attention to the English and General Knowledge and studies as large number if questions are asked in the examination.

The preliminary for 2015 is on 23rd August 2015. If you are eligible then the application will be available on www.upsc.gov.in from last week of May or June.
