Re: What should I do after MBBS to become a cardiologist?
After finishing your MBBS course, you have to join PG course in MD (General Medicine).. After finishing the PG, You have to join in the super specialty course, i.e., DM (Cardiology).
Note: Each course has its own entrance exam in separate. You have to clear each of them |

Re: What should I do after MBBS to become a cardiologist?
Let me answer both points one by one. Since you are in third year of MBBS it makes no sense to now consider doing the medical course from abroad. You will have to start over again which is something that I will not recommend. It will be complete waste of 3 years you have studied hard.
In simple language, cardiologist can be referred as heart specialist. Cardiologist is the person who is trained to handle some critical heart conditions which an ordinary doctor can't do. Cardiologist treats various heart problems. Generally it is believed that the role of Cardiologist is only to conduct heart surgery. While it is true that Cardiologist do operate the patients in extreme cases, his first priority is to ensure that such situation does not arise. Cardiologist makes changes in the diet of lifestyle of the patient to keep the heart healthy. He is also responsible for conducting stress tests, radiology studies and identifying coronary blockages. The process of becoming Cardiologist is long but since there is huge shortage of Cardiologists in India, I am glad that you are interested in becoming one. Eligibility 1. You will have to first complete MBBS. 2. Apply for the PG NEET entrance exam to get admission for MD. 3. Complete the 3 years long MD course. 4. After completing MD you will have to pursue 3 years long DM in Cardiology course. After which you will become Cardiologist. |

Re: What should I do after MBBS to become a cardiologist?
After completion of MBBS you have to study Post Graduation in Cardiology to become a Cardiologist.
Cardiologists are those Doctors who do surgeries related to heart. You need to specialize in this subject after MBBS. The admission into Post Graduation into top Medical colleges in India is based on the entrance examination and you need to be very well prepared to get a seat in a Government medical college. As you are in 3rd years of MBBS means you have lot of time for preparation. So you can make your objectives clear from now that you have to get a seat in top Medical college and study according to it. Also whatever you a studying in MBBS should be studied properly because the questions in the entrance exam will be from MBBS syllabus. Some of the top Medical colleges offering this specialization are: -Maulana Azad Medical College & GB Pant Hospital -All India Institute of Medical Sciences -Kasturba Medical College, Manipal -Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology -St. John’s Medical College Society -Govt. Medical College,Calicut -Kerala Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram -Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research ,Pondicherry -Christian Medical College , Ludhiana -Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research , Chandigarh -Chennai Medical College , Chennai -Christian Medical College, Vellore -GSVM Medial College ,U.P -King George Medical College , U.P -Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences ,U.P -Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research , West Bengal -University College of Medicine ,West Bengal |
