dear friend,
It will not create any problem , as you want to go for IAS...

To appear in IAS exam you have to complete the graduation course..
After which you can apply for IAS exam.

Eligibility for IAS exam:-

1.Candidate has to complete the graduation in any trade.

2.Final year candidates can also apply for IAS exam.

3.Age should be in between 21-30 years.
For SC/ST the upper age relaxation is 5 years and for OBC the upper age relaxation is 3 years.

4.Candidate must be a citizen of India.

These are the eligibility criteria you have to fulfill.
As you have opted for non medical stream then it will not create any problem..
All you need is , just have to complete the graduation.

All the best..

Dear pal,
it is not necessary that you need to obtain degree from a particular discipline to arrear in the exam conducted the union public service commission for the Indian administrative service. You need to complete a bachelor degree from a recognised university. It can either be a three year course or a four year course. It doesn't matters.
The restriction for the aspirant is only in the number of attempts and in the age . The aspirant of general category can apply only upto 30 years of age. But relaxation is provided for the different classes. Bc and mbc aspirant can apply upto 33 years of age whereas sc and st aspirant can apply upto 35 years of age.
The written main exam consists of optional papers so it would be easy for you to prepare if you have choosen a optional subject paper as your degree. You can apply with non medical degree itself. The only thing you need to do is prepare well for the exam by refering many papers and books.

So what if you have chosen non medical stream. IAS is not related to medical stream. It is also not related to technical or non medical field too.

IAS is an exam that makes you to enter into the competative world and make you to get the top posts such as DC and DSP and ACP so on..

Eligibility criteria for IAS exam:

Education-- Should be graduate in any field from a recognized university. No percentage criteria. Final years graduates can also apply.

Age-- Your age should be between 21 years and 30 years....the age is calculated on the basis of 1st of August of the year applying for it.
[33 years for SC/ST]

Citizenship-- Should be a citizen of India.

The Exam is basically divided into two parts...

1. Preliminary
2. Main

In Preliminary, 2 papers are there...

Each paper carry 200 marks and duration is 2 hours.

You should have good knowledge in current affairs and social issues.
[Because you need to have very strong in that]

You also have to be physically and mentally fit for the exam.

Your stream, whether medical, engg, law, arts, or anything hardly matters when it comes to the IAS or the Civil Services Exam. So, do not attempt to jump to any other stream.

Just continue in the present stream, score very good marks and when you are in the final year, respond to the UPSC advertisement and take the exam. Of course, needless to say that you should make extra preparations for facing this exam.
