Dear friend,
It is very good that you have set your target at the right time to became an IAS officer. Once you have decided for IAS then I would like to suggest to for Arts stream only, because most of the questions are being asked from the Arts subject. So Arts stream will help you to crack the entrance exam of IAS. More over you will get time to prepare for IAS in Arts stream, if you go for any other stream hardly you will get time. To become IAS officer You have to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination and for this examination the eligibility is any Graduate from recognised university. To apply for IAS your age should between 21 to 30 years (For General Candidates) The Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST ( 5 years) and for OBC ( 3 Years). hi dear
after complete your 12th science now you go for arts stream why not mention to go arts stream? if you secure a good mark in this, if you go in future for IAS exam you have a wrong concept if you go for IAS arts is necessary then it is wrong because now a days exam is changed what is your strong area in this area you give this exam example your strong area is PHYSICS then you give the exam on physics. So go graduation in science then prepare your self for IAS exam............... |

Re: Should I join Arts stream if I am interested in joining IAS in future?
Yes if you want to do IAS you will go for arts subject because in future it helps you a lot preparaing for the IAS.
For IAS you have to be graduate and your age is from 21 to 30 years ,after that you can apply for IAS through the oficial site of upsc.Check regularly the official site of upsc for the IAS recuritment IAS Preparation requires the right approach along with the right study materials and strategy.IAS preparation requires focused study rather than plain hard work. Cover a few topics at any point in time instead of studying 3 or 4 topics simultaneously. Always keep the syllabus and past five years questions papers for effective ias preparation. This way you keep on track and cover all parts of the syllabus instead of just focusing on one or two topics. Also you can track your progress simultaneously. |

Re: Should I join Arts stream if I am interested in joining IAS in future?
Any bachelor degree holder is eligible to give the IAS entrance exam. So it does not really matters which subject you choose because that is not the main criteria here.
IAS eligibility criteria: It does not really matters which stream you belong to as they just look for graduates in any discipline from a recognized university. Your age should be between 21-30 years. At the most you can attempt for four times. Selection procedure includes preliminary exams, main examination followed by interview. For more information you can log onto this website:- www.upsc.gov.in |

Re: Should I join Arts stream if I am interested in joining IAS in future?
Dear friend,
to apply for IAS or indian administrative services you need to complete your graduation in any stream from a recognised university. There is no percentage of marks needed for applying. All the graduates can apply. The exam is conducted by UPSC every year. Your age must be between 21-30 years(for general candidates) to apply. For OBC and SC/ST candidates there is a relaxation of 3 and 5 years respectively. So choose those subjects only in which you find interest. All the best. Regards. |

Re: Should I join Arts stream if I am interested in joining IAS in future?
To become IAS it does not depend that from which stream you have done your graduations. If you want to continue with science stream you can. And if you want to opt Arts for your graduation you can also do that because you will get more time to prepare yourself for IAS in arts.
