Will it create a problem if in the pre sea certificate engine rating is mentioned?
Hello sir,
I am a B.E garduate in mechanical, I have completed th pre sea course of UK-GME for 4 months.I will be getting a panama CDC.I got my pre sea certificate and STCW from panama. In the pre sea it hass been mentioned as engine rating.Would it create a problem? |

It will not create any problem but you will be treated as a Engine Room Rating. I do not know why you did this course being a BE in (ME)? Minimum qualification to complete Rating course is Matric. It would have been much better if you choose Graduate Engineering Conversion (GEC) program. If you do this course than your Mechanical degree will be converted into Marine Engineering. Thereafter you can join any shipping company of your choice as a 4th or 3rd Engineer.
