No, you cannot join merchant navy with 10+2 qualification in commerce stream.

Direct entry to Merchant Navy is possible only for students who have completed their 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry,mathematics). They areeligible to join as Deck Cadets.

However if you are really interested in joining merchant navy you can join as a rating officer. The entry qualification for rating officer is10th.

Following courses are available for rating officer:
4 month Pre-Sea Course for General Purpose (GP) rating.

3 month Pre-Sea Course for Deck rating.

3 month Pre-Sea Course for Engine rating.

4 month Pre-Sea Course for Saloon rating

ya sure commerce student can join Indian navy ..you can apply for navy after your graduation which can help you in a better manner

Always Indian NAVY as it is for technical people and give respectful post.For Indian NAVY need gaduation also pay scale also high for Indian NAVY.

Actually for Merchant Navy basic eligibility criteria is 60% in Physics,Chemistry and Math.Commerce students cannot join in Merchant Navy.

I am sorry to say that you cannot join merchant navy with commerce background.

yes you can join air force but you can not join Indian Navy.....
to join Navy maths at 12th is necessary......

I am very sorry to say that, the commerce students are not eligible for the INDIAN NAVY.
because,. only those candidates are eligible for this exam (NDA), who have 12tyh degree with physics & maths,.
also you must have to score at least 60% in 12th standard.

the age limit for the NDA (NATIONAL DEFENSE ACADEMY) is 16.5-19 years.

also you must have citizenship of India, having marital status UNMARRIED.

You cannot apply for the Naval & air force as well.As you are commerce student , so you can not apply in Naval & air force wing through NDA [NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY]
,which is conducted by the UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION [UPSC].

Through the NDA exam, one can apply in all the branches of the Indian army, i.e. Nval , air force, military branch...
For apply in naval & air force wing, you must have Physics & Maths in 12th, with minimum 60%.
So, you are not eligible, but you can apply for the Military branch through NDA .

The age limit for this examination is 16.5-19 years, there is not any kind of age relaxations criteria is applicable for the any reserved category.

Also you must have INDIAN nationality with marital status Unmarried.

yeah you can apply indian navy if you have taken maths with commerce .

SORRY, if you have not taken maths then you are not eligible for indian navy exam because maths is necessary subject.

you passed 12th exam with minimum 60% marks with maths.

If you really want to join the Indian NAVY then you can join after graduation through Combine Defence Services(C.D.S.E)

CDSE exam is conducted by UPSC twice in a year.

following eligibility criteria:-
-You have to pass graduation with any stream from recognized university or board

-age limit:-19-24 year
-must be citizen of India

After completion of 12th in commerce stream you want to join in NAVY, for that you have to appear in NDA exam.

But before appearing in the exam you have to fulfill some eligibility criteria.

Eligibility for NDA exam:-

For Indian Navy:-
Candidate have to complete the 12th in science (PCM) with 60% aggregate.
Candidate must be a citizen of India.
Age should be in between 16.5-19 years.

As you have done 12th in commerce field then you are not eligible for NAVY..

For mercent navy , qualification criteria is 10+2 with math in pure science.The course duration is one year and
it is a pre sea training which is given to engineers enabling them to become junior engineers on deck.you will be eligible for merchant navy after B Tech.so you can join merchant navy after btech if you have done Btechnin mechanical or electrical branch.

Indian Navy is one of the renowned as well as a respected jobs of the Government of India.

There are two chances every year for you. Generally, examination is held twice a year in the months of June and December every year.

They recruit through a entrance exam named Short Service Commission(SSC).

Eligibility Criteria :-

Nationality : Indian.

Marital Status : Unmarried.

Educational Qualifications :

i)You should pass the 12th or equivalent with Science and Mathematics with 60% or above marks in aggregate and optional as Chemistry or Biology or Computer Science.

ii)You should pass B.Sc in Physics, Mathematics or Electronics with minimum 60% marks.
or
iii)You should pass BE or B.Tech with minimum 65% marks in aggregate in any discipline from any institution recognized by AICTE.
or
iv)You should have M. Sc in Physics, Mathematics or Electronics with minimum 55% marks.

Age Limits :19.5 to 25 years as the examination time.

Physical Standards:-

Height: Minimum 157 cm

Eye standard: Without glasses better eye 6/6 and worse 6/9

Color perception: CP II

The eligible candidates will be called up for Service Selection Board (SSB) based on their educational intelligence in graduation.

Exam Procedure
:
The eligible candidates are called for the written examination of objective-type of 75 minutes which includes:

i)General Science

ii)Mathematics

iii)General Knowledge

iv)General English

I just qualified 12th with 71% in ISC board with 74 in English nd 49 in PCM.....
but minimum requirement in for IMU in PCM is 55%

so, is there any other method by which i can apply for Merchant Navy...?
