Hello sir, I am in final year of Computer Engineering course. I want to join Government Banking field. Can I get job in Banks directly or through entrance exam? List of Government banks and entrance exam for them?

No, you have to appear and qualify in entrance examination to get jobs in banking sector.

You will be eligible to appear for examination after completion of degree. You can appear for entrance examination conducted by IBPS, SBI etc to get job.

IBPS conducts entrance examination for recruitment of candidates in all the nationalised bank other than SBI and its associates.

In today's era it is not possible to get jobs ( government jobs ) without appearing and qualifying in entrance examination.

So, it is necessary to appear for respective entrance examination to get banking jobs. Yes, you can appear for examination after bachelor degree.

Being a Class 12th passed student you are not eligible for banking job even through entrance examination as for appearing in banking entrance examination you need to be a bachelor degree holder.

So in order to get banking jobs at the post of Bank Clerk, Probationary Officer or any specialist officer you are first required to complete your graduation degree in any subject of your choice from a recognized university and then you will have to qualify bank entrance examinations like IBPS bank examination or SBI bank examination.

As far as you are concerned about knowing the number of nationalized banks in India then till now there are 21 nationalized banks ( including SBI and its six associates ).

Out of these 21 banks, recruitment in 20 nationalized banks except SBI is done on the basis of IBPS ( Institute of Banking Personnel Selection ) bank examinations where as for SBI it is done on the basis of SBI ( State Bank of India ) entrance examination.
