Re: Does UPSC conducts Indian Economic Service exam every year? How many seats are there?
Yes,UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) conducts Indian Economic service/Indian Statistical service examination every year.Basically the notification of this examination will be released in the month of “June”.And the tentative month of conduct of examination you may find is “November”.So as you are interested to getting into the Indian Economic Services you must look of the recent notification in the month of “JUNE” to get official notification to apply for.
Generally based on the past statistics of the year 2011 the approximate vacancies were of 19 in the Indian Economic service and around 46 in the Indian Statistical services. But the number of vacancies may likely to change every year based on the requirement. And to be eligible for the IES examination you must have a minimum of Post Graduation degree from a recognized university in the streams Economics/Econometric.So the candidates having these as their specialization they can absolutely apply for the Indian Economic Service examination. The minimum age to be eligible is 21 years and the maximum age must not exceed 30 years as on the 1st January of the year of conduct of examination. The selection process basically consists of Written Test and Personal Interview. The Part I is of written examination of conventional type papers. For Indian Economic service General English(100M),General studies(100M),General Economics-1(200M),General Economics-II(200M),General Economics-III(200M) and General Economics(200M).So the part-II is of the Interview for 200 Marks. |
