M.Sc(Economics) 1st year student can appear for Indian Economic Service exam?


I'm a student of M.Sc(eco)Calcutta university who just completed 1st year will i be eligible for Indian economic service exam??

No, you are not eligible to appear in Indian Economic Service examination while pursuing M.Sc (Economics) first year course. The Indian Economic Service examination is conducted by UPSC and the eligibility criteria required to appear in IES examination is mentioned below :-

Eligibility Criteria :-
--> The candidate must be a citizen of India.

--> The candidate must have obtained a post Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognised University.

--> The candidate must have attained the minimum age of 21 years and must not have crossed the age of 30 years. Upper age relaxation is applicable to reserved category candidates as per government rules.

Since, you have not completed your Master's degree course, you are not eligible to appear in IES examination.

Yes, you are eligible for Indian Economic Service exam.

IES stands for Indian Economics Service. This is conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

Those candidates who have completed Post graduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics course from a recognized University are eligible for Indian Economics Service exam.

Your age should be in between 21 to 30 years. Age relaxation is provided for reserved category candidates.

(a)General English :- 100 Marks
(b)General Studies :- 100 Marks
(c)General Economics-I :- 200 Marks
(d)General Economics-II :- 200 Marks
