You have completed B.E in IT so you are eligible for IAS exam. You can choose Anthropology subject because there is no subject related to computer science in optional or main papers.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services. IAS exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission. IAS exam is conducted one time in a year.

Those candidates who have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university are eligible for IAS exam.

Age criteria:

For General: 21 to 30 years
For OBC: 21 to 33 years
For SC/ST: 21 to 35 years

No. of attempts:

For General: 3
For OBC: 7
For SC/ST: No Restriction

Selection process for IAS exam:

1)Preliminary test
2)Mains exam
3)Personal interview

Fro Engineering, you will get only 3 subjects there :
1. Civil Engineering
2. Mechanical Engineering
3. Electrical Engineering.

If you are thorough in these subjects, you can go for them, otherwise there are
1. Physics
2. Maths
3. Chemistry
These are from Science background.

If you think that you can clear the exam with these subjects then go for them.

In my opinion, you should go for some non-science subjects such as History, Political Science, Public Administration etc. to clear this exam.

For IAS the optional subject is now only one subject. Optional paper is only for 500 marks out of total 2025 marks. Mostly the main optional subjects usually taken by many of the students are History, Geography, Public Administration, Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Political Science and Economics. It is purely the interest of the individual. One can select the subject which is close to his heart or most interested. Do the research and take the best decision.

I think you are asking about which is the best optional subject for Civil Services examinations mains for the bachelor of engineering in Information technology candidate. If my perception is true then you must know that every subject is the best for someone. It totally depends upon you whether you are interested in that subject.

The marks scored in optional subject of Mains exam plays a vital role in overall rank. So one must choose the subject according to your own interest. There are various subjects available among which you can select your desired one.

Some of the subjects include agriculture, geography, history, political science, public administration, sociology, zoology, botany, electrical engineering, civil engineering, mathematics, mechanical engineering etc. There is no specific engineering related subject for IT candidates which is related to your stream. So you need to choose from the given subjects. So select the subject as per your interest.
