Detailed information about BSc(Biochemistry) course?


I have heard about the course which is BSc in the specialization of Biochemistry. I don’t know much more about this course. I am a 12th Science student and after my 12th course I will do BSc in this specialization. So, I want to know the details of this particular course. Thank you!

Bachelor of Science in biochemistry is an undergraduate course in chemical and physio-chemical processes. An integral factor for being eligible for this course is that the candidate must have completed 10 + 2 and past HSC examination from a recognised school in India. Like all undergraduate program, BSc biochem is a 3 years course and admission to the program is based on marks scored in 10 + 2. The average tuition fee charged by various colleges for the entire course ranges between 36000 to 1.5 lacs. BSc bio Chem is a course through which students can find ample job opportunities in medical industry, research labs, agriculture, pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions.

B.Sc (Biochemistry) that is Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry is undergraduate Biochemistry course. It is study of chemical processes in living beings. It consists of study of Microbiology and Virology, Biophysical Chemistry, Human Physiology, Microbiology and Virology, Bio-organic Chemistry, Enzymology, etc.

Duration of course is 3 years and syllabus is divided in 6 semesters.

B.Sc. Biochemistry Eligibility :

Candidate must have passed 12th or equivalent in science stream with at least 50% marks from any recognized university or institute.

Many institutes and universities do conduct entrance exams for the admission. Also some institutes give admission on the basis of candidate's score in 12th standard.

B.Sc in Biochemistry is a bachelor's degree course which comes under science stream of study and duration of this course is minimum 3 years and maximum 5 years in different institutes offering this course in India and you can apply for this course if you have :

Passed class 12th examination from a recognised board with PCB - Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects or

Passed class 12th examination from a recognised board with PCM - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects

Candidate must have good percentage marks in 12th then only he/she may get admission in good colleges and some colleges conduct entrance examination to provide admission so both areas should be good.

3 year duration of this course will have 6 semesters and each semester will be for 6 months in which candidates have to appear 6 times for examination in each semester and if you get a backlog in any subject in any semester then you will be given two additional chances to clear that subject so study well and practical as much as possible.

Fee Structure of B.Sc Biochemistry - Fee structure may be little bit different of every single college but almost will be around and difference in fee will be 15-20% of colleges offering this subject in government approved colleges and fee of all three year course will be around 25,000 to 40,000/- and if you pursue from private institute then fee may be more than 50,000/- for complete course.

B.Sc in Biochemistry will make your career better if you have good practical and theory knowledge and if you complete masters degree in biochemistry then you can have more job opportunities from various chemical and fertiliser industries, pharmaceutical industries, government schools and colleges for guest faculty and lecturer and other job opportunities which are open for all.
