For getting admission in Ph.D one must have a Master's degree in relevant discipline with at least 55% marks from a recognized University. If you belong to reserved category then 50% marks is sufficient for admission. Admission in most of the top Universities is based on the scores in NET/SLET/JRF/GATE.

Hence, if you have qualified any of these exams after your Master's then you can get admission without appearing for any other entrance exam. Ph.D admission is released by Universities year and you have to apply on a prescribed format. If you don't have NET/SLET/JRF/GATE score then you have to appear for University Ph.D entrance exam.
