Number of Attempts available in GATE Examination:
I am very happy to say that there is NO LIMIT for applying GATE Examination, so you can appear in GATE Examination as many number of times as you can. And other important thing is GATE Score is valid for 2 consecutive years, so you can apply for GATE Exam until you get good score or rank. Best books required to prepare for GATE (Chemical Engineering) stream: >> Chemical Technology - Dryden's Outlines of Chemical Technology >> For Mathematics - B.S Grewal >> Chemical Reaction Engineering - Fogler and Octave Levenspiel - Recommended and necessary books >> For Heat Transfer Section - Binay K.Dutta >> For Thermodynamics Section - By K.V Narayanan (Smith JM, Van Nes H.C, Abbott MM) >> For Process Calculations section by Himmelblau (including GATE Subjective questions of 1990 to 2000) >> Fluid Mechanics by A.K.Mohanty >> Heat and Mass Transfer by P K Nag >> Chemical Engineering - GATE Guide by Mittal |

Re: Study Materials and number of attempts available for GATE?
A candidate can appear for GATE exam as many as times, but the result of each attempt is valid only for 2 years. So, you can appear for GATE exam as many as times, you can. And following are the best books to prepare for GATE exam to get admission in M.Tech(Chemical Engineering).
->Chemical Technology by Dryden ->Plant design and Economics by Peters M. S. and Timmerhaus K. D. ->chemical process calculations K.Asokan ->Fluid mechanics- NPTEL Dr. V. Shankar ->Introduction to chemical engineering Thermodynamics by J.M Smith ->Mechanical Operation by Mccabe, Smith and Harriott ->Chemical Reaction Engg by Fogler and Octave Levenspiel ->Process dynamics and control by Coughanowr and LeBlanc ->Chemical process calculations by K Asokan |

Re: Study Materials and number of attempts available for GATE?
There is no limit on GATE attempts or age limit. But GATE is used for recruitment in PSUs.And the PSUs have limit on age mostly 27-28 maximum for General candidates and reservation likewise. But GATE as separate does not have any limit on marks, age or attempt.
Study material is best your course books and once your course books are over, you can go for practice papers.Do not start practice papers before completing your course materials. It never benefits anyone. Course material are separate for your chemical stream and then practice papers are good for GK Publications,Made Easy publications,Arihant Publications etc. |
