I AM IN final year be mech my question is, is there fixed number of attempts for GATE exam if yes how many attempts is there any change done currently done in examination

there is no limit for the number of attempts in the gate examination,
you can do as many attempts you like
hi the pattern of the examination was changed last year that is 2010 with aptitude questions being introduced and was the same in 2011 also so there was no change this year,if there are changes next year that we will come to know only in the month of September when the notification of the gate exam comes out .

You can give it for only 2 time. no matter whether you belongs to general or any other category.you have to crack it in these 2 chances .you have to score atleast 35 marks in it to get crack it.

one can appear GATE exam any number of times,

but the best time is to crack it during 3rd year or 4th year,

as during this we will be
only focused towards studies, and more over time gap/loss will not be there.

marks scored in GATE is valid for a period of next 2 years.

no there are no limit to attempt GATE exam.
for qualifying GATE u will have to get the minimum cut off. its not fixed its depend on categories wise as well as branch wise i means different branches have different minimum cut off.

the GATE eligibility is given below

1.minimum graduation in engineering.

final year & prefinal year Btech/BE students are allowed to attain in the gate exam.

2.after doing msc, students are also eligible to attain in the gate exam.

there have not any age limit to attain in the gate exam.

SO you can attain many time in gate exam.

as per the gate examination code

a student can apply as many times as he want

there is no attempt and age limit for this particular limit..

but during the personal interview you have to answer the reason for gap between your bachelors and Masters ..

so be ready with the details and also some necessary documents related to it..

bt one thing i would like to remind u that every year compet'ion is increasing at an allarming rate so it's better for u if u clear it as soon as possible b/c scorecard validity for 2 years so gain as much as possible ////
b/c in future it may b possible that it's validity upto 1 year/////////

there is no fixed number of times for giving GATE exam.....

you can give it as many times you wish too.........the exam pattern has changed a bit as this year aptitude test is also introduced......GATE score is valid for a period of 2 years......

so don't worry about number of attempts........

the best way to get beautiful marks in GATE.."you should refer all the concepts which you had studied from minimum 6th standard to maximum higher study(B.TECH,B.SC..etc)..
