English (Paper 1) of Tamil Nadu Board is the elective subject at the class 12 levels or higher secondary level. It is the paper of much importance as it is compulsory subject required for many entrance exams. The total marks for the paper is of 100 and the total time allotted for this is three hours. There are in total five sections. Section A is the vocabulary section containing a total of 40 marks. Section B is the grammatical section with 20 marks. Section C is the reading section containing a total of 15 marks. Section D is the writing section having 15 marks while the Section E is the poetry section containing a total of 20 marks.
