English is one of the elective language subjects at the higher secondary level of Tamil Nadu Board. It is important as it required as one of the compulsory subject for many entrance exams. Also English being a global language, has become a mandatory for most of the organizations. Hence, English has been included as a part of the curriculum from the very basic level.

Division of Paper:

It has a total of six sections. Section A is of Supplementary reader, Section B consist of learning competency, Section C is section of Occupational competency, Section D comprises of Strategic Competency, Section E is the section with creative competency while Section F consist of Extensive Reading.

Time allotted for the examination and marks.

The total time allotted for the examination is of three hours and the maximum marks for this is 80 marks.

The Paper Pattern:

The instructions are mentioned at the beginning of the question paper to write the question no. in the Arabic form in the given margin of the paper. The paper consists of six sections. Section A is the supplementary reader section with 12 questions. Section B is of learning competency having 10 questions. Section C is the section of Occupational competency with 2 questions. Section D comprises the Strategic competency with 2 questions. Section E is the section of Creative competency having 10 questions in it. Section F consists of Extensive reading having three questions.
