There is no compartment exam available for students who fail in three subjects. This might be the reason why your son has been declared failed by the board. Normally, supplementary exams is provided to students who fail in two subjects.

You can contact the board for rechecking if you have doubt regarding the result. Applying for rechecking is the only option now but you should take your decision quickly.

The minimum marks required to qualify Higher Secondary examinations is 30% in some state boards and it is 35% in some other state boards.

For example, let us talk about the qualifying marks of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects of AP and TS Intermediate Boards. The physics and chemistry examination is conducted for total of 60 marks each and the qualifying marks is 21 whereas the Mathematics examination is conducted for total 75 marks and the qulaifying marks is 27 marks.

The candidate will be declared as failed even if he has qualified in theory part and failed in practical part of the examination. This might be the reason in your son's case, so, first check the minimum marks required to qualfiy the examination and prepare your son in such a way that he can qualify the examinations.

The candidate will be declared as failed or disqualified if he/she fails to score minimum marks required to qualify the examination. The minimum marks required to qualify in most of the examinations is 35 marks out of total 100 marks i.e.., the candidate must have to score at least 35% marks to qualify the examinations.

You can know the minimum marks required to qualify by doing the simple calculations i.e., (total marks for which the examination is conducted/100)*(minimum percentage of marks required to qualify the examination). In your query, you have mentioned your son's individual subject marks which are very less than the minimum marks required to qualify the examination that's why, your son is declared as failed.
