Yes, definitely you can take admission in the direct 2nd year of the diploma course after completing the 12th class from a recognize board..............!!

There are many college in India which provide the diploma course. To admission in the diploma course you need to appear in the entrance examination conducted by many government and private college. If you completed 12th class then i advise you to appear in the entrance examination for the admission in the diploma course.

So, don't worry you are eligible to take admission in the direct 2nd year of the diploma course. you must need to qualify in the entrance examination. Do prepare well for the entrance examination. After completing the diploma course you can also take admission in the direct 2nd year of the B.Tech course. Wish you All the Best.

Sorry there is no such entry which you are talking about. If you want to do Diploma after 12th then you have to start from 1st year and you will not get any lateral entry into 2nd year of Diploma course.

The lateral entry is only for Diploma holders who want to get admission into B.Tech. course.

Also if you are 12th pass with PCM then you must aim for B.Tech. because doing diploma will only waste your 2 years.

Nowadays a higher qualification is better. So you must try for B.Tech. through JEE.

Diploma is for 10th pass students and if your aim was Diploma then you should have opted it after passing 10th. Doing diploma after 10th is very good because it will save your time and you will become job ready at a young age.

So in my opinion you should go for B.Tech. and should start preparing for JEE because getting a top college very essential if you are opting for B.Tech.

I am afraid it is not possible. You can not take admission in the second year of diploma after completing 12th. You will have to complete the entire 3 years diploma course. There is no other option.

However since you have completed 12th, instead of diploma you should go for graduation degree. I will strongly recommed doing Bachelor of Technology instead of diploma course.

The duration of B.Tech is 4 years while the duration of diploma course is 3 years. The advantage of doing degree would be better jobs that you won't get with just diploma course.

Diploma course is recommended after completing 10th not 12th. After completing diploma after 10th you can take lateral entry admission in the second year of B.Tech course.

Although it is also possible to do after 12th. But what is the point of doing both the courses now when you are directly apply for the B.Tech course.

Therefore I will recommend you to apply for the Bachelor of Technology. There are several entrance exams to get admission. Apart from the state level entrance exam you should also appear for the ISEET entrance exam.

This exam has recently replaced IIT-JEE and AIEEE. Therefore top government colleges offer admission through ISEET.


ISEET Eligibility

1. Candidate has to first complete 12th.

2. PCM should be the subjects.

3. 40 percent or more marks in the 12th.

No you will not be able to take admission directly in second year after passing your 10+2/Intermediate course.To take admission in Engineering courses first you will have to meet these Eligibility conditions :

Educational qualification :

• Your minimum educational qualification should be Inter pass with Science stream.
• Your subject combination should be Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics.

Marks :

• Your minimum marks in 10+2 should be above 70%.
• Your average marks in Science stream should be 60%.

Age :

• If you will take admission in bachelor degree engineering course then your age should not be above 25 years.

So from the above given Information you will able to understand that it will not be possible for you to take admission in B.Tech/B.E Engineering courses.


Even if you will take admission in Diploma Engineering course then also you will not be able to get admission in Second year.For taking admission in Diploma Engineering course you will have to apply for Polytechnic Entrance Exam.To apply for this entrance exam,eligibility conditions that you will have to meet are as follows :


Educational qualification :

• Your minimum educational qualification should be Class Xth pass out from recognized State/Central Board.
• English should be your compulsory subject in Class Xth level.

Marks :

• Candidates from General category should have a minimum of 60% marks in class Xth.
• Candidates from SC/ST/OBC category should have a minimum of 50% marks in class Xth.

Exam Pattern for Polytechnic Entrance Exam :

• Polytechnic entrance exam include questions from 3 sections.
• Section I and II will include 50 questions.
• Section III will include 100 questions.
• Total duration for each section I & II will be 2 hour.
• Total duration for Section III will be 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Entrance Exam Syllabus :

• Section I - Physics.
• Section II - Chemistry.
• Section III - Mathematics.
