This is mostly selected path by many students after completing their 10th. This path got this popularity due to its many benefits like the following.

->Directly doing Intermediate opens the gates for Engineering but its very tough to crack the entrance examinations like JEE and AIEEE due to heavy competition,for this reason only most of the students are very intelligently planning their path.

->One more important thing is the competition lateral entrance test like E-CET are having very low competition and easy to get a good rank.

->Most toughly said one thing due to polytechnic course the students theoritical and practical skills will be improved very brightly for this reason also 10th completed students are opting Polytechnic entrnace

For doing polytechnic diploma in desired course one has to first prepare for polytechnic entrance conducted in April-May and more over he has to secure a good rank in this too.

then only the desired percentage can be achievable for B.Tech Lateral entry. So selecting a good govt polytechnic college is also a very important thing to do.

After completing polytechnic diploma you have to clear the lateral entry entrance examination then only you are eligible for the admission into 2nd year.

Coming to IIT's

No there is no chance to get into IIT's through lateral entry scheme

No, IIT doesn't provide direct admission in 2nd years after completion of diploma. So better to go for 12th first then apply for IITJEE which is held every years.
If you go for Diploma then you have to give IIT after completion of Diploma. So it takes total of seven years for whole diploma and degree course.
So better to go for 12th after passing 10th.

yes iits are also offer lateral entry in 2nd year

No, my friend IIT's are not provide such kind of direct admission in 2nd year.. so, if you are interested to get admission in IIT ,then it will be better for you to go for 12th.. after completion of your 12th you can appear in entrance exam like IIT-JEE..
If you crack the entrance exam then you will get a chance to take admission in IIT's.

it is based on your wish
if you do diploma you will get exposed to the work field too you can get into job after that.
this is not the case with +2 you need to do higher course .if you wish to join IIT then you should complete + and do well in AIEEE EXAM

dear friend,
diploma is a very good course but only if done from a good college. the advantage of doing diploma is that the student get admission into the second year of b.tech directly. this is called lateral entry.
but in iit and nit colleges, there is no lateral entry. if a diploma student want to take admission in iit on nit college, then hi/she will have to take admission in first year only and that too by giving the iit jee or aieee exam.
in this way, one year of a diploma student is wasted.
but if a student completes 12th class and then give the entrance exams of iit jee or aieee, then no wastage of year is there.
only this is the disadvantage of doing diploma. otherwise diploma is the best for getting a good job.

a graduation degree has many advantages over a diploma..its true that you can get into engineering even after diploma,but diploma holders cannot get into IITs or NITs
at the time of placement,your 11th 12th marks can make a difference but if you are a diploma holder then you will be sidelined very easily at the time of placement,rest is up to you

as i have given my ssc (10th) exams i am totally confused what to do......

I think doin diploma is better u get good knowledge by that my son .failed in 11th std science may be it was nt his wY so i m planning to get admission for him in diploma in computer engg which he wants to do next
