Yes certainly 12th commerce students can pursue the CS course. The course is suitable for those interested in gaining knowledge in legal affairs of a company. You must either pursue B.Com or LLB course along with CS for better prospects. You should first enroll for the foundation course. You have the option to choose between postal or oral coaching.

The company secretary course can be divided into three parts:-

Foundation Programme
Executive Programme
Final Programme

To sit for the foundation course you have to be a minimum 12 pass out with good marks.

To sit for the executive program you have to do your graduation in any discpline and get a minimum of 50% marks. The candidate who are complete Chartered Accountant / Cost and Work Accountant / Chartered Financial Analyst may also eligible to apply for this Executive Program .

If you successfully Complete then Foundation and Exectuive Course then you may eligible to apply for Final course .

Company Secretary Course is managed and conducted by ICSI(Institute of Company Secretary of India), the exam is held two times a year one in June and other in December.

The CS course is divided in to three Program:-

-Foundation Program - The candidate having completed 12th in any stream is eligible for this course.

-Executive Program - The candidate having completed Foundation Program or having completed Graduation in any stream from a recognised University is eligible directly to this program.

-Professional Program - The candidate having completd Executive Program is eligible for this program.

After completion of all the Program, the aspiring candidate has to undergo a 15months practical training before finally certified as a Company Secretary by ICSI.

To be eligible for Company Secretary course candidate must have did 10+2 from a recognised board of senior school examination or its equivalent with any of the stream except fine arts. 10+2 appearing students can provisionally register for foundation programme examination. 10+2 pass out candidates are eligible to join Foundation Programme of CS course.

Examination are conducted twice in a year in the month of June and December. Admissions are open through out the year and candidates can register eight months prior to June or December examination.

Yes you can do CS after 12th. Also i would recomend you to do LLB along with CS.
