Mahe is a town located in the Mahe District of the Union Territory of Pondicherry. The town is one of the popular French-Indian settlement town in the country and it is located in the coastal areas of Malabar. The town is bounded by the Azhiyur Village of the district of Kozhikode belonging to Kerala and by the north it is bounded by the River Mahe.

The two main languages spoken in Mahe are French and Malayalam since it is located close to Indian state of Kerala. Even though, Mahe town is surrounded by the state of Kerala in most of the sides, the town officially belongs to the union territory of Pondicherry. Medical College:

Rajiv Gandhi Ayurveda Medical College, Mahe is an Ayurvedic medical institution functioning under the government of Pondicherry. The college is affiliated to the Pondicherry University and it is approved by the Department of Ayush of Indian Government. The institute is permitted with an intake capacity of 50 students per year for the BAMS course out of which 43 seats are filled by the centralized admission committed of the Government of Pondicherry and remaining four seats are for NRI candidates. For seeking admission to the BAMS course offered by the college, candidates must have completed their 12th standard with biology, chemistry, physics and Sanskrit subjects.

Arts College:

Mahatma Gandhi Government Arts College is one of the important colleges in Mahe that came into existence in the year 1970. The college offers UG courses in subjects like mathematics, zoology, computer science, physics, plant science, chemistry, economics, English, Hindi and Malayalam in the faculties of arts and science. It is also offering PG courses in subjects like Hindi and plant science. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council have conferred the college with B grade status.

Thus, these two government colleges offering education under the faculties of Ayurveda and arts are acting as the best ground for higher learning in the popular town of Mahe in the union territory of Pondicherry and it offers education not only to the people belonging to Pondicherry, but candidates from nearby state of Kerala are also getting benefitted.
