LLB otherwise called Bachelor of Law is the undergraduate course offered by numerous universities and colleges in the country. This is a four year programme which can be pursued by a graduate in any discipline. The course includes various phases of Law and the IPC. At the end of this programme, students can choose either criminal law or civil law according to their career interests. LLB is the basic qualification for one to practice in legal profession.

A profession in legal services is now considered as one of the fast growing and highly paid professions everywhere. This is one of the most exhilarating and courageous profession. Lawyers are the professionals who are always seen in high esteem in the society. Besides all the challenges faced by these professionals, they also obtain various financial and social gains.

Most of the LLB graduates begin their career in government sector with the tax or labor department. They can perform as public prosecutor and may also find jobs in defense sector. From this level, their job prospects goes in ladder like Associate Attorney, Attorney, Solicitor General, etc. They can work as legal advisors for the government organizations and nowadays most of them works with NGOs, internal agencies and even in political field. LLB graduates are recruited in various state government services through the PSC recruitments. After acquiring relevant experience, one can get into the high position jobs in State revenue or police or in judicial departments.

Central Government Jobs after LLB

Lawyers are appointed in various central government services through the recruitment process conducted by UPSC. They are posted in diverse positions depending on their level of experience. The diverse designations include Legal advisors, Law officers, Assistant advisors and Dy. Legal Advisors. They are eligible to be selected as Judges in various courts in different roles like

  • Attorney
  • Solicitor General
  • Public Prosecutor
  • Defense
  • Tax and Labor departments

Other Profession in Government Sector after LLB

The other job prospects for the LLB graduates in public sector include secretarial level jobs in companies. Many reputed firms recruit the LLB graduates as company secretary. These professionals can work in legal consulting agencies which deals with excise, labor, and tax, patent and in environment laws. Other options for them includes as trustees for different trusts, as law reporters in media, etc. Apart from all these, they have ample opportunities in Law schools and universities as lecturers or professors. They have a great scope in the political field also, since they maintain huge contacts with the public.

How to Prepare For All These Exams?

Almost all recruitment process organized by the different firms conduct an initial written test for selecting talented candidates. The most important thing one must do is to make sure that they have sufficient knowledge in the fundamentals of the examination which they are about to appear. They must have clear idea about the syllabus from the top to bottom. Students can start with the difficult portions first, cover them and then move to the easier ones. This will help them to save more time. It is better to spent more time in the sections which they feel weak. Many reference books for the examinations are also available in the markets now; students can buy and use them.
