Department of Defence Research and Development is working towards improving self-sufficiency in the defence systems. In accordance with the requirement laid down by the Indian Navy, Army and Airforce, the department engages itself in the production of world-class weapon system and equipments. It works in different areas of military technology like life sciences, simulation, advanced computing, naval systems, materials, missiles, instrumentation engineering systems, electronics, combat vehicles, armaments and aeronautics.

The Department is also responsible for execution of different research and development projects and programmes through a network of 48 establishments/laboratories and Aeronautical Development Agency, which is a society engaged in the development of light combat aircraft.

Aeronautical Development Agency is shortly called as ADA and this is a nodal agency for the development and designing of LCA. The LCA Programme has HAL as its principal partner with participate of educational institution, private sector industries, public sector industries, CSIR and DRDO Laboratories.

Defense Research and Development Organisation:

Defense Research and Development Organisation shortly called as DRDO is working in different areas of military technology, while striving to maintain the cutting-edge technology. The organization contributes towards the development of the nation by offering ample spinoff benefits to the society.
