self study is one of the valuable key of any examination to crack.but as u mentioned that solving 10 years papers solving, in my opinion it is not good enough to crack the gate.
by solving gate paper you'll familiar with pattern of question paper but it will not help u too much......u should first wash ur basics then try to solve the paper. you get benefit.
best of luck

Self-study is enough to clear GATE.required time is different for different persons.
Than asking required time to study better to set the concepts to complete and keep working until you complete that,it is applicable for all types of persons

What i have observed that, by doing self study you require some more time to prepare the whole syllabus. You require some professional guidance for clearing gate. Also when we do self study we are quite leniant with our schedule so the preparation is not up to the mark.
So if you are planning to do self study follow the following guidelines to clear it in first go,
1) Stick to a schedule
2) Solve as many question papers as you can
3) Take free guidance from the web.
4) And last but not least be internally motivated (find out a reason why you want to do gate).

No its not enough because if you can solve one problem in 10 minutes other can solve the same problem in 5 minutes
so group study also important to save time
once way of thinking is differ from others no so there we can get lot of ideas

dear gupta,

Have you passed your essential qualification or not you didnot mentioned. However it is if you passed then self study is more effective for your prepration.try to make a strategy and read according to your strategy.solving 10 yrs paper is fine but try to solve chapterwise excerise.

not so much worry about exam.be cool and score good.

good luck.

Dear friend

it depends on your ability and capacity of reading. If you are a good student and you have confidence not over confidence then self study is sufficient to qualify in the GATE exam.Cochin institute will only guide you, they will not read for you. But if you have not money problem then you can take admission in a institute like Brilliant, Path finder , Career Launcher for the guidance.

Thank you

Self-study is effective if only you are familiar with the syllabus and tricks to crack the questions faster. There are many professionals who offer excellent guidance and help you to improve on the mistakes which are made unknowingly. Most of the candidate seeks professional help while preparing for the GATE exam and so the success rare is also very high. Be prepared to face tough competition from other peers. Even so if you are so confident in you ability and skills, then there is nothing wrong in choosing a self-study option. It would be a wise choice to buy reference books with answer key option and previous question paper guides from a book store.

Yes obviously self study is sufficient for cracking GATE exam but you have to be really focused and concentrated about the preparations.

You can concentrate more on aptitude and mathematics part as this part is common part and also bears a very good amount of marks in GATE.

You please try to cover up your whole syllabus mentioned in GATE syllabus and also complete most of the exercises provided in the books. Then after completing all these try to solve the previous year question papers and model question papers.

But i cannot provide you any solved papers as you have not mentioned your stream.

hi,

GATE is abbreviated as Graduate aptitude test for engineers.

This exam is conducted through out the India so there we may face tough competition.

As you are asking self preparation is enough to just clear off the exam but to get good score its better to take atleast short term coaching.

If you taken coaching they will made you to follow some tips and tricks which makes you easy.

Any how work hard you will succeed.

all the best.....
