Government Jobs in Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation
The ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is working under the government of India and it came into existence in the year 1999 on the 15th of October after bringing together two different departments being department of programme implementation and department of statistics.
The ministry has two wings one is programme implementation and the other is statistics wing. In addition to these two wings, there is also the National Statistical Commission created through a resolution of Indian Government and another autonomous institute being Indian Statistical Institute, which has earned the status of the institute of National Importance.
Different organizations functioning under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation:
• Central Statistical Office
• National Sample Survey Office
• National Statistical Commission
• Indian Statistical Institute
Some of the details regarding these organizations are given below:
Central Statistical Office:
The central Statistical Office is responsible for coordination of statistical activities in India and it is also responsible for maintaining and evolving statistical standards. Some of the activities performed by the office include compilation of index of industrial production, conducting of annual survey of economics and industries censuses and compilation of National accounts.
National Sample Survey Office:
The national sample survey office is headed by the director general and chief executive officer and under this official four officials are functioning, they are
• Additional Director General of Survey Design & Research Division, Kolkata
• Additional Director General of Field Operations Division, New Delhi
• Additional Director General of Data Processing Division, Kolkata
• Deputy Director General of Co-ordination & Publication Division, New Delhi
National Statistical Commission:
National Statistical Commission was established by the Government of Indian in the year 2000. The commission is mandated with various responsibilities like identification of core statistics that are critical to the development of the economy and that are of national importance, to constitute working groups or professional committees to assist the commission on different technical issues, etc…
Indian Statistical Institute:
Indian Statistical Institute came into existence in the year 1931 on the 17th of December and as mentioned earlier, it has been recognized as the institute of national importance from the year 1959.
Recruitment:
Recently, the ministry of Statists and Programme Implementation conducted recruitment for the following positions:
• Investigator
• Accountant
Educational qualification requirement:
Normally, for the technical side of statistics and programme implementation ministry candidates with statistics and economics background are mostly selected and candidates from other educational background are selected for other job vacancies arising in the ministry.
