Himachal Pradesh University is the finest university of the state. It was the first university of Himachal Pradesh and was established in 1970. The university offers many under graduate, post graduate, diploma, doctoral and certificate courses. Admissions to these courses are made on the basis of entrance exams conducted by the university. Candidates who clear the exam can join the university.

Structure of Himachal Pradesh University BAMS/BHMS Entrance Test

The exam will be objective type with multiple choice answers. Candidates can gain 4 marks for every correct answer and one mark will be reduced for every incorrect answer. The questions will be basically from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology of higher secondary level.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed their higher secondary level of education under any recognized Board/ University are eligible to apply for Himachal Pradesh University BAMS/BHMS entrance exam. Such candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as core papers in 11th and 12th. The candidate should have obtained an aggregate of 50% in their qualifying exam. A consideration of 10% is given to those students who belong to the backward communities (SC/ ST/ OBC). Among the total seats allotted for BAMS/BHMS, 85% of the seats are reserved for candidates from Himachal Pradesh, 4% of the seats are reserved for candidates from Jammu and Kashmir and the remaining seats are filled on All India basis.

How to apply?

The application form along with the prospectus can be obtained from the University Examination Enquiry-cum-Sale Counter No.1, Library Building (Basement), Summer Hill, Shimla-5 or at Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Post- Graduate Ayurvedic College, Paprola, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. The cost of application form is Rs.1150/- for general category candidates and Rs.650/- for SC/ST categories. The candidates can also get the form through post. For this, they have to send a request to the Deputy Registrar requesting for the form and prospectus. The address for sending the request is addressed to the Deputy Registrar (Entrance Tests) H.P. University, Shimla-171005.

The candidates under general category should enclose a demand draft of Rs.1250/- drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, H.P. University, Shimla-5.  The candidates under SC/ST category should enclose a demand draft of Rs. 750/- for the application form. The candidate should mention “ Request for BAMS /BHMS Prospectus-2011 ” on the top of the envelope. The candidate should also provide the complete mailing address in block letters along with the telephone number or mobile number on the envelope.

How to fill the application form?

All the details regarding the form about the course will be provided in the prospectus. Candidates must be very careful while filling the form. The candidate should enter the name as in the high school certificate. They should affix a self attested passport size photograph in the prescribed area. Completely filled application forms must be sent to reach the office of Deputy Registrar (Entrance Tests), Room No.10, Ground Floor, Administrative Block, H.P. University, Shimla-171005 on or before the last date of submission.

The results of the Himachal Pradesh University BAMS/BHMS Entrance Test will be published in the official website of the university. Candidates can visit the website, two weeks after the exam to get their results.

Score Validity

The marks obtained in Himachal Pradesh University BAMS/BHMS Entrance Test will be valid for 12 months.
