IFS Chemistry (Paper II) Papers
IFS or the Indian Forest Services Exam offered by the UPSC is considered to be much sought after post for the persons aspiring to work in higher posts in the department of forest. The candidate is eligible for the exam four times.
A total of six subjects are present in the written exam. Paper I comprises of English for 300 marks and you have 300 marks of general knowledge in Paper 2. In the remaining papers, that is, 3,4,5,6, the questions will be based on a range of optional subjects offered. Each of these optional papers is further divided into two that is Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each one is of 200 marks.
The number of optional subjects offered is many. For example, you have agriculture, botany, chemistry, geology, physics, zoology, forestry etc. The chemistry paper will have 8 questions with four in each part. The students are expected to answer any four. However there has to be one question for each part. There is a 300 marks interview following the written paper. A combination of chemistry with chemical engineering as an optional paper is not permitted.
The syllabus of Chemistry Paper 2 comprises of topics like elimination reactions, addition reactions, reactive intermediates, reaction mechanisms, substitution reactions, etc.
