Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is located at Bangalore and was established in 1909. It is established as a Research institute. This institute has advanced post graduate education in India and also offers many other courses. This institute introduced the integrated Ph D program in Chemical, Mathematical, Biological and Physical Sciences for Science graduates. IISc entrance test for research is a qualifying examination for admission to research programs.

Structure for IISc Entrance Test for Research

The structure of the IISc entrance for research is in such a way that each candidate should choose a paper for the entrance test which is very close to their qualifying degree. The duration of the exam will be three hours. The performance in the interview round will be the deciding factor. The same will depend upon the vacancies in each department.

Eligibility Criteria

The following categories of students are eligible to apply for admission to Research programme.

• Master’s degree or its equivalent in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications/ Humanities/ Agriculture/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science.
• Master’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture.
• MBA or its equivalent subsequent to BE/B Tech, for admission to the department of Management Studies only.
• Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering/Technology/ Medicine/ Architecture/ Biotechnology/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science/ Agriculture.
• Bachelor’s degree holders in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science /Electronics  followed by qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE as being equivalent for Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Candidates who have not yet completed their studies and expect to complete all requirements for the degree are also eligible to apply for the exam.

How to apply?

The candidates can apply for IISc entrance test for research through online mode. The candidates should take a demand draft for the amount of application fee.

• General Candidates : Rs. 600/-
• SC/ ST/ PH candidates : Rs. 300/-

How to fill the form?

The candidate should register with e-mail address and password to start the online registration process. Before starting to fill the form, the e-mail address should be verified. The e-mail address and the password should be noted so that it is necessary for the whole admission process. After the verification of the e-mail address, the candidate should login to the website to fill the application form. The candidate should be very careful while entering all the details. The candidate should have a recent passport size photo and the scanned image of signature to upload while filling the application form. They have to enter their personal details, preference of department, qualification details, national entrance test details, fee details, etc. The register number should also be noted and the candidate should take a print out of the application form before submitting it.
