Jorhat Engineering College (JEC) was set up in the year 1960 by the state Government of Assam. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. The college is affiliated to the Dibrugarh University.
The college offers excellent graduate and post graduate level courses in field of Technology and computer applications through modern facilities and experienced teachers.

Jorhat Engineering College offers the following undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes:
The undergraduate courses available in the college are B. Tech (Civil Engineering), B.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering), B.Tech (Electrical Engineering), B.Tech (Instrumentation & Control Engineering) and B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering).
The post graduate courses available in the college are M Tech (Production Technology) and MCA (Master of Computer Applications).
Eligibility criteria for getting admission:
Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination (with English, mathematics, Physics and Chemistry subjects) can apply for the B. Tech course. They must get qualified in the Common Entrance Examination conducted on the State level in order to get admission for the B.Tech course in the college.
The candidates who have passed BE/ B.Tech from any recognized University are eligible to apply for the M.Tech course. They must get qualified in the Common Entrance Test conducted at the state level in order to get admission for the M.Tech course in the college.
The candidates who have passed graduation with Mathematics/Statistics or any discipline are eligible to apply for the MCA course. They must get qualified in the state level entrance examination to get admission for the MCA course in the college.
Infrastructure:
The college has excellent infrastructural facilities such as spacious & well-equipped library, well furniture classrooms with all necessary teaching aids, comfortable hostel, transport, guest house, and medical facility.
Training and Placement cell:
The college has a separate Training and Placement Cell that offers excellent and quality training to develop the key skills of students for getting jobs successfully. The training cell also arranges and coordinates Industrial Training and Placement of pre-final and final year students.
