Katihar Medical College came into existence in the year 1987 and it is a private institution managed by the Al-Karim Educational Trust located in Patna. The college offers several courses with approval from the Medical Council of India and the courses offered by the college are affiliated to Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University.

It is a Muslim Minority Institution that invokes to the provision of Article 30 (i) of the Republic of Indian Constitution. The primary intention of the college is to augment the facility of professional and higher studies for the youth particularly to the youth belonging to the Muslim community.

Eligibility conditions:

For seeking admission the MBBS course offered by the Katihar Medical College, candidates must have completed their senior secondary course of any other equivalent course with not less than 50% of aggregate marks in biology, chemistry and physics from a recognized institution. In addition, candidates must not be more than 17 years of age during the month of December of the year in which he/she is seeking admission. For seeking admission to the PG medical courses, candidates must have completed their MBBS from a recognized institution.

Admission Procedure:

Admission to the MBBS and other PG courses is done based on the marks secured by the students in the qualifying examination and in the Combined Entrance Test conducted by the Association of Private Colleges in the state of Bihar.

Reservation of seats:

Katihar College has reserved more than 50% of seats for reserved category candidates belonging to Muslim Community.

The campus of Katihar Medical College is located in a land that is spread over 55 acres with approximate built-in space of 5,53,000 square feet. The campus houses several facilities like hospital with emergency and casualty services, separate hostels for interns, boys and girls, lecture theatre, administrative block, biochemistry labs, bungalow for principal, residential apartments for staff members and modern guest house.
