Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences is a Unitary University located at Bangalore, which is the capital city of the state of Karnataka. The university was formed in the year 1996 by the state government of Karnataka for the purpose of promotion and regulation of higher education in health sciences all over the state.

The university was formed under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Act 1994. More than 250 colleges are affiliated to the university and these colleges are spread over the whole state of Karnataka. For maintaining uniformity in academic standards and administration in the affiliated colleges, the colleges are approved to provide education in the field of nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dentistry and medicine.

Initially, the university started to function from Mysore, but it was shifted to Bangalore by the State Government in the year 1998. The category-wise list of colleges affiliated to the university is as follows:
