Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan shortly called as North Gujarat University came into existence in the year 1986 and the university is offering education under ten different faculties of education namely rural studies, medicine, pharmacy, law, education, arts, management studies, engineering & technology, commerce and science. The university has three centers of education namely centre for excellence in environment and sustainable development, centre for Indian Diaspora and cultural studies and computer centre.

For getting admission to the different courses offered by North Gujarat University candidates must have completed their qualifying examinations as per the regulations and ordinances of North Gujarat University. For getting admission to the different Ph. D courses offered by the department belonging to the university, candidates must have completed their Master’s degree in respective discipline with not less than 50% of marks from the same university or from any other university recognized by the University Grants Commission.

As far as M. Phil courses offered by different departments of the university are concerned, candidates must have completed their Master’s degree with not less than 55% in any of faculties like commerce, science, education and arts. However, admission to a particular M. Phil course will be offered only to the students who have completed the Master’s degree in the respective field with the required percentage of marks. Admission both to the M. Phil and Ph. D programmes are done based on the performance of the students in the entrance examination conducted by the university.
