The Global Open University came into existence in the year 2006 and the university is located in the city of Dimapur in the Indian State of Nagaland. The university was established under the provisions of the Global Open University Act 2006 with the objective of introducing employment centric education, job-oriented and vocational courses in the North-eastern part of the country in general and in the state of Nagaland in particular.
