National Museum Institute M.A in History of Art Entrance Exam 2012
National Museum Institute is a Deemed University under the Ministry of Culture. The institution offers PG as well as Ph.D courses in History of Art, Conservation, and Museology. The University offers the admission to these courses through certain entrance exams. Only limited number of seats is available for all M.A in History of Art. Therefore, the screening process is very tough to pass through.
Structure of National Museum Institute M.A in History of Art Entrance Exam
The time allotted for the completion of the entrance test is 1 and half hours. The model of the test is of objective model. Each question contains 4 different choices and the candidate has to find the right one among the same. The aspirant can gain marks for each right answer and there will be negative marks for incorrect answers.
Syllabus of National Museum Institute M.A in History of Art Entrance Exam
The main topics included in the M.A in History written examination are mentioned below.
- The Indus Valley Civilization: Art and architecture
- Modern and Contemporary Indian Art: major art movements and artists
- Medieval art under the major dynasties such as Western Chalukyas
- Early Indian art during the period of the Shungas Satavahanas, Mauryas, Kushanas, Vakatakas, Guptas,: stupa and early temple architecture, sculpture and painting traditions
- Parmaras, Pallavas, Hoysalas, Rashtrakutas, Cholas, Pratiharas, Chandellas and Pala-Senas: Temple traditions: Dravida, Nagara and Vesara
- High Medieval art and architecture of the Sultanate and Mughal periods
- Miniature paintings: Rajasthani and Mughal schools
Eligibility Criteria
The minimum qualification required for attending the entrance test for M.A in History of Art is a pass in graduation. The degree course must be passed from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks. The graduation must be obtained in any of the subjects of Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts.
How to Apply?
The applications of the entrance exam can be downloaded from the official website of http://www.nmi.gov.in/. Once the form is collected, the candidate can start the application process. Filled up application must be sent along with the necessary documents. They must affix recent photograph of prescribed format and size in the space provided (in the application form). They must make sure that the application reach the address before last date.
How to fill the Form?
The print out of the application form downloaded from the website must be handled carefully. The candidate must fill the form manually with the prescribed pen or pencil. They must fill the same correctly and completely, as there is a chance for incomplete applications to get rejected. The candidate must go through the application form once again before submission, to ensure its precision and completeness.
