Petroleum is the most important thing in the world, since it makes up majority of the fuel in one or another form. The Petroleum engineering is the vital field which involves the manufacturing of natural gas or crude oil. The experts working in this particular area are called Petroleum Engineers. They search for the reservoirs around the globe that have the petroleum resources. They find the resources that hold natural gas and oil and design and supervise the extraction procedures.

After the extraction process they place these resources in storage containers. They decide the techniques and devices that should be used for drilling and also oversee the employers who perform these drilling processes. Before starting the drilling operations, these experts test the samples that are found from the reservoirs to select the most suitable techniques and equipments. They design the processes and equipments in order to increase the revenue from the extraction of natural gas and oil. They also conduct research and make new technology and methods to minimize the drilling costs and produce more resources.

Many of the Petroleum Engineers find their employment in oil companies while some other work for companies that sell tools and equipments to oil firms. They can also enter the teaching profession or serve as consultants in government departments and industries.
