Selection is done on the basis of written exam, GD, and interview. Written exam includes both technical as well as general aptitude based questions.


Eligibility Criterion for Recruitment in Ashok Leyland

Engineering as well as management graduates can participate in the recruitment drive of Ashok Leyland. Both fresher and experienced hands can join the selection process.  Candidates from mechanical engineering stream are primarily preferred for technical job positions. Job profiles like Graduate Engineer Trainee and Management Trainee are meant for freshers only. Final year students can also take part in the selection process, provided they must be free of backlogs. Only those having cut off marks above 60% can attend the screening process. This is also applicable to final year students, up to their present semester of studies.

Recruitment Procedure in Ashok Leyland

Selection of eligible candidate is done on the basis of

  • Written Exam
  • Group Discussion and/or
  • Interview

Written exam include both technical as well as aptitude based questions. Those who pass through the written exam will be allowed to participate in the further stages of the screening process.
There will be three sections for the written exam. First section includes questions on engineering aptitude of 50 numbers. Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and basics of electrical engineering form the syllabus of this section. Candidates are requested to complete the section within 25 minutes.
There will be 50 questions in second section that needs to be completed within 30 minutes. This section is also subject oriented and covers questions related to production engineering and mechanical engineering.
In the third section one can expect questions on general aptitude. Time allotted for answering the section is 30 minutes and there will be a total of 60 questions. Questions for this section are mainly covered from the following areas.

  • Alphabetical Puzzles
  • Analogy
  • Analytical Reasoning
  • Figurative Puzzles
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • Verbal Ability

Those who pass through the written exam will be short listed for GD section. Here the candidate needs to unleash their ideas regarding the given topic. The main objective of this section is to evaluate the communication and the leadership qualities of the students.

In interview section, one can expect questions related to HR and technical topics. Communication skills, Personality, ability to work under stress, and professional knowledge of the candidate are evaluated in this final round.
