State Bank of India came into existence in the year 1955 on the 1st of July and the bank was established by the Government of India with its headquarters in the city of Mumbai. It is a largest financial service firm in India and it has more than 130 branches all over the world, 25000 ATMs in different parts of the country and more than 16000 branches.

The bank offers a wide range of banking products like credit cards, pension cards, asset management, private banking, retail banking, commercial banking, consumer banking and investment banking.

Recruitment by SBI:

SBI calls for application from eligible candidates for the position of Probationary Officer. Some of the details regarding the recruitment notification issued by SBI are given below:

Name of the position: Probationary Officer

Number of Vacancies: 1030 (150 for SC, 75 for ST, 270 for OBC, 15 for OH, 15 for VH and 505 for General)

Probationary Period: Two years

Pay Scale: Starting pay of Rs. 16900 in the scale of Rs. 14500-25700, which is applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale I. Selected candidates will be eligible for CCA, HRA and DA.

Eligibility:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university or institution

Age: As on 01-05-2011, candidates must not be below 21 years of age and above 30 years of age, which means that candidates born between 2nd of May 1981 and 1st of May 1990 are eligible to apply. Relaxation of upper age limit of three years, five years and 10 years is allowed for OBC, SC/ST and VH/OH candidates respectively.

Application fee and postage:

Candidates will have to deposit a non-refundable deposit of Rs. 500 (Rs. 50 for PWD/SC/ST category) in any of the branches of SBI between the 18th of May and 07th of June 2011.

Selection Procedure:

The selection process includes two phases, in phase-I, candidates will have to take up written test, which will be conducted for three years and second phase includes group discussion and interview.

How to apply:

Candidates will have to download the cash voucher from any of the following websites: www.sbi.co.in, www.statebankofindia.com and www.timesjobs.com and they will have to pay the prescribed fee directly to any of the branches of SBI. They should apply online along with their scanned photography and signature through the website of SBI.

Important Dates:

Dates for online registration – Between 18th May 2011 to 09th of June 2011

Date of Written Examination: 24th of July 2011
