The English Paper 1 is a 100 mark paper. The time duration for the same is two and half hours. There are four parts to the paper. Part A has four questions with internal choices within them. The first two question carry 6 marks each and the third and fourth carry 10 marks. Part B comprises of four questions. The first two of these again carry 6 marks. The third question carries 10 marks and the fourth one 5 marks. Part C comprises of questions with alternative answers, one word answers and making sentences.  In the last part that is part D the student is expected to change the sentences into the directed way, fill in the appropriate articles.

This paper has relatively few long answer questions except in the first part. The aim of the paper is primarily to test language and grammar skills. It is important to note that given the time duration of two and half hours, the paper could be a little lengthy to solve. However, adequate practice can resolve this problem for you. Most of the questions have internal choices which increase the number of questions one can attempt.
