Union Public Service Commission conducts various exams for the various posts under UPSC. There are lots of subjects which are included in the subject lists of UPSC. The subjects include Commerce, History, Geography, Botany, Electrical Engineering, Psychology etc and languages like Hindi, English, Bengali, and Nepali etc. The candidates have to select their subject combination according to the posts they are applying for.

The UPSC exam is conducted in two parts Prelims and Mains. The mains paper of Psychology is of 300 marks and is of 3 hours duration. The question paper comes in both Hindi and English and candidates have to write their answers in the medium which is clearly specified in the Admission Certificate issued to them. Questions 1 and 5 are compulsory and students are required to answer any 3 questions from rest of the paper. They also have to answer at least one question from every section.

Every question carries 60 marks. Some questions are further divided into parts (20*3 or 30*2). Words limit are also mentioned in some of the questions. Candidates are advised not exceed word limit as it carries negative impression.
