The ‘B’ level course of Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC) Society is equivalent to a MCA Degree which is recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. There are 5 semesters in this level; the first 2 are same as that of ‘A’ level. Operating systems code is ‘B3.4’. There are two project works also.

Syllabus:

Operating systems is a 60 hour course. In the first 8 hour an overview is given. Then the course will teach Process Management, Storage Management, I/O Systems Distributed Systems Protection & Security. At the end there will be a 6 hours of Case Study.

Silberschatz Galvin, “Operating System Concepts”; Andrew S.Tanenbaum, Albert S. Woodhull, “Operating Systems: Design & Implementation”. One can also follow books written by D. M. Dhamdhere and A. S. Godbole.

Time Duration:

The exam is for 3 hours and is carried during the month of July and January.

Division of the paper:

There are 5-6 questions in the paper which is subdivided into many small questions and the marks ranges from 4-10. Apart from the direct theoretical question, paper also contains numerical question which tests the application and the understanding part of the candidate. The paper covers the entire syllabus and student must mainly concentrate on ‘memory’ section.
