Chemistry is basically divided into three parts – Physical, Organic and Inorganic. For a chemical engineer all the three parts are very important and the Calculation and Stoichiometry paper of the Gujarat Technological University checks the knowledge of the physical part of the students.

Difficulty in making the paper:

The paper is of 80 marks and since it basically contains more sums than the theory type questions so the teachers have it tough by setting up four sets of the paper though it does not effects a student if there are sets but physiologically it makes the paper difficult.

Pattern of the paper:

There are no sub groups in the paper. Eight questions are given out of which only five have to be answered and the questions may be divided onto sub parts of 4, 6, 8, 10 or even 12 marks. The test is of three hours and it is ample amount of time for an average student to complete his/her paper. The paper tests the physical knowledge of the student and the reactions and the changes which takes place during a reaction.

What should be your approach?

You should go through your entire syllabus very thoroughly so that you can frame your answers according to the marks allotted for that particular question. While answering always keep in mind the time. You should divide your time according to the questions and keep some time for yourself for final checking.
