NET (National Eligibility test) is taken to check the eligibility for lectureship and for the JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) and is conducted twice a year in the months of June and December. The archaeological paper is divided into two papers paper II and paper III and the latter are again divided into two parts paper IIIA and IIIB. Paper IIIA comes in the core group whereas IIIB is an elective subject.

Sections In The Paper:

The paper is divided into 4 sections and each has different type of questions and they are as follows:

•    Section 1 has two essay type questions which are to be written in 500 words each and 20 marks is allotted for each essay type question.
•    Section II has three analytical type questions to be written in 300 words for which 15 marks are allotted.
•    Section III has 9 short answer types of questions to be written in 50 words each and 10 marks is allotted for each question.
•    Section IV has 5 text based questions to be written in 30 words each and 5 marks are allotted for each question.

Time:

The test is of 200 marks containing just theory questions and not objective questions are there in it for which only 2 and a half hours is provided. The time is very less for a full theory type paper and that too of 200 marks.
