Rural Internship, Research Internship and Industrial Internship are the different types of internship offered at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA IICT). These internship programs help students to get exposed with real life projects and to gain on hand work experience. Arrangement of internships to students is handled by the Placement Cell functioning at the institute. They are also responsible for inviting companies for placement, pre placement talks and arranging recruitment schedules.

Internship in DA IICT

Internship in DA IICT is categorized under the headings of

• Rural Internship
• Research Internship
• Industrial Internship

Rural internship is compulsory in the course curriculum of certain courses. It is the application of theory in real life projects, basically in rural areas. These internship programs help students to identify the problems in real world situations and to implement what they learnt to solve those issues.

Objective of research internship is to develop independent research skills in students. The research fosters professional interaction between students and research guides and thus creating a research environment in the campus. Research are done in subjects like search algorithms, CMOS, hash chains, natural language processing and so on.

In industrial internship, students are allowed to visit various IT companies, where they are exposed to various practices prevailing in the industry. Here, students are exposed to live projects through which they can gain on hand work experience. Morzilla, Google, ISRO, DRDO, etc are some of the institutes where students have done their industrial internship.

Placement Procedure in DA IICT

The Placement Cell is responsible for placement related activities in DA IICT. The cell comprises of Placement officer, student placement committee and faculty members. They invite companies through e-mail or phone calls. Institute brochure is also sent. Companies’ interested in placement will accept the placement request and respond back. Such companies should fill a Job Announcement Form to confirm they have accepted the placement policy and placement procedure extended by placement cell. • Job location

Placement cell makes arrangements for pre-placement talks, by which the company will describe its particulars to the students. This helps students to have adequate information regarding the company and thus to make decision on whether to join the company or not.  Hitachi, Tata Technology, Infosys, Wipro, Erricson, Google, IBM, Samsung, etc are some of the reputed companies visited DA IICT.

After conducting recruitment, the company is responsible to issue the final list of selected students. Offer letters are dispatched or handed over to the placement officer within the designated time limit.
