West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (WBSETCL) was established on 01.04.2007 under the Electricity Act 2003. The company is responsible for transmitting Power throughout West Bengal. WBSETCL has received the best power availability award from Ministry of Power Government of India for the year 2007-2008. The important functions of the company includes adoption of new technology, replacement of old damaged conductors and equipments with newer ones, introduction of Information Technology applications for its services, augmentation/expansion of sub-stations, construction of transmission lines and green field EHV sub-stations, maintenance and operation all available EHV lines, equipments and sub-stations. The company has 93 EHV Sub-Stations offering a total installed transformation capacity of 14828.3 MVA. The company handles about 20,000 MU of power per year.
