Aizawl West College is a government college established in the year 1990 on the 2nd of May with the aim of offering education during evening hours for the students who cannot find time to attend college during the daytime. Later it was converted into a full-fledged day college. Initially, the college got affiliation from North-Eastern Hill University for offering pre-university and degree course in the faculty of arts. With the establishment of Mizoram University, the college came under the jurisdiction of Mizoram University from the 2nd of July 2002.

Library in Aizawl West College:

The library in the college is headed by a chairperson, a coordinator and two other members along with the heads of each departments functioning in the college as members. The library has a collection of 359 books in English, 178 in economics, 228 in history, 755 in Mizo, 159 in political science, 78 in psychology, 95 in education and 41 books in public administration.
