Gujarat University offers the course of M. Phil in Sociology. There are four Sociology based paper namely, Sociology Paper I or Research Methods & Statistical Analysis in Sociology, Sociology Paper II or Sociology Theories, Sociology Paper III or Monograph Study and Sociology Paper IV or Public Finance. Paper IV is also the third elective paper of the Economics subject.  The first three papers are compulsory and the last is elective. The total marks for each of the paper are one hundred and has duration of three hours.

There are a total of eight questions offered in each of the paper of Sociology including the elective one. Each of the questions has two options out of which they have to attempt any one. Thus in each of the paper, there are pairs of four questions and from each pairs, the candidates have to attempt any one. The maximum allotted for each of the question is twenty five. The question varies from short answer to long answer to essay type. Candidates are advised to follow a large number of Mock Papers in order to secure high marks in each of the paper as well as lay stress on the suggestions.
