SO’s/STENO’s (GR B/GR I) Limited Departmental Competitive Examination is held for the post of section officer or stenographer under the various offices in Central Government. Examination notification comes out in the month of July and the exam is conducted in December. There is no age limit and education qualification prescribed by the board. The selected candidates will serve as a stenographer at Armed Forces Headquarters, Railway Board Sectt. Service, Intelligence Bureau etc.

Syllabus of Examination:

The complete exam has 2 parts and it lasts for 4 days. The above mentioned paper comes under part ‘A’. Here the candidate needs to know about the Indian Constitution and the working of the Indian government. One must also study about the parliament of India-its working and procedures.  One must be well acquainted with the general facts and should know about the politics.

Time Duration:

Candidates get 2 hours to solve the 100 marks paper.

Pattern of Paper:

The questions in the paper are written in both English and Hindi and the candidate is supposed to answer in the medium which they had selected in the admission certificate; failing which their paper is cancelled. There are a total of 7 questions out of which any 5 is to be attempted. Each question carries 20 marks thus the paper is of 100 marks. The questions are mainly essay type like writing notes on the topic given so scoring is difficult.

    Sir, what is the total service in the rank of PA (regular) is required to appear in S.O/Steno ‘B’ exam. PA can change his trade from PA to S.O., can he change also his Ministry?
