For the Undergraduate program the institute considers the All India Engineering Entrance Exam. However for the Postgraduate Program they consider the scores from the entrance exams conducted by the institute itself. It is a must that the candidate applying should have pursued Graduation course in the science stream. Those in the final year too are eligible to apply. The Entrance Exam will be conducted on the third week of April.

Structure of the IIIT PG Entrance Exam

Basically there will two papers as part of the entrance exam. The first will be more in the aptitude testing. There will be questions from areas like Mathematics and Logical Reasoning. Some questions will be from the Programming areas too. The second will be a subject oriented paper.

Syllabus of the IIIT PG Entrance Exam

The first paper will be an objective type paper. There will multiple choices to select from. The candidates will have 90 minutes to attempt this paper. This will test the candidate’s knowledge on mathematics, logical reasoning and basic questions on computers. The mathematics section will get questions from profit and loss, percentage, time and distance. Also some questions in probability, numbers, trigonometry etc. In the logical reasoning section normally there will be areas like analogies, data sufficiency. Also some questions where the candidate will need to give the appropriate answer by ticking any of the options like True, False, Probably True etc. The computer section will have basic level questions. They will be required to answers questions related to CPU, Input, Output etc.

Reference Books for IIIT PG Entrance Exam

They can refer to various aptitude related books for entrance exams like CAT, Bank PO etc for Paper I. For the second part they will have to refer to previous year papers and also books oriented to the subject that they select.

Study Plan for the IIIT PG Entrance Exam

Creating a time table would be a good preparation method. The candidate should practice all problems before exam. They should study all formulas and short cut methods thoroughly. They should go through sample papers and previous year question papers. This will give you clear idea about the exam. The candidate can refer their text books and class notes for subject paper. They will get basic questions on these subjects. The candidate can find course materials about computer awareness and logical reasoning. They should practice many mock tests and model question papers. The candidates will be short listed based on the entrance test marks. They have to attend group discussion and personal interview.
