The topics which are taught in this paper are basically related to factors determining the design of machines, necessity of machine and the type of machine required, etc.

Division of paper:

There is only one section in this paper comprising of 5 questions.

Time and marks allotted:

The total time duration allocated to solve this question paper is of two and half hours and the maximum marks for this paper are 70.

Paper Pattern:

This paper contains a total of seventy marks. The duration of the examination of this paper is two and half hours. There are five questions in this paper and the respective marks contained by each question are mentioned on the right margin of the question paper. There is no overall choice provided in the question as all the questions of this paper is compulsory, but some internal choices are provided in some of the questions for the ease of the students. Instructions are given on the first page of the question to write the serial no. of the question in the left margin of the answer sheet. There is no negative marking in this question paper. The questions of this paper are uniformly distributed through the whole syllabus.
